This is how our Thanksgiving Day started. Typically we are in Ohio and my whole family gets up and does Turkey Trot race. This year we decided to spend Thanksgiving here in GR then head down to Ohio later in the day after we feasted. So, we found our own Turkey Trot (actually a Gobble Wobble!) and burned a few cals before the big lunch. It was a chilly start to the day so Charlie broke in his new snowsuit. This is one of the best apparel purchases so far (http://www.rei.com/). Ben even surprised us with little speakers he attached to the stroller so we got the fellow gobble wobblers pumped up to 80's and Rocky music!
After watching Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade and getting the car all packed up we headed over to Nana and Papa's for dinner. Charlie's cousin Hannah was pretty happy that there was another little one to play with. She is a doll, only 10 months and look at that hair!!
Next, we hit the road and headed south to Mimi and Papa's, about a 5.5 hour drive and Charlie traveled like a champ. We only stopped once to feed him and he was totally content hanging out in the backseat playing with his toys, looking at himself in the mirror, and watching Chico (yes, we had a VERY full car!).
I have dreamed of these days. Celebrating first holidays with my baby, finding cute things to dress him up in, and experiencing all the joys with Ben of being a first time parent. Hopefully we will be blessed to have other children, but I know that I will never forget these times where everything is new and we are beginning a whole new chapter of our lives. This year I have many reasons to be thankful.
Thank you Lord for legs to run with on a cold morning, family that we can laugh with, for a husband who is patient and loving, and for a beautiful son that means the world to us. I love my little family and I count my blessings each day for them.
