We started off the day with little toddler muffins that Ben and I made the night before so Charlie had something special to eat the morning of his birthday. He loved them, and so did we! After a great AM nap, lunch, and opening our gifts to him at the house we packed it up and headed to Saugatuck Dunes and it was a picture perfect, beautiful day.
If you look REALLY close you can see Ben and Charlie at the bottom of this dune.
We took about a 30 minute hike to Lake Michigan and had so much fun. Michigan is awesome. We didn't spend a dime and we had so much fun enjoying God's creations - we are so blessed to live in such a wonderful area.

After our hike we headed back to GR and met Nana and Papa for dinner and then it was off to Jersey Junction for ice cream. Charlie had some strawberry and loved it. He has pretty much loved all flavors of ice cream he has had so far. He is totally my kid! That night after Charlie went to bed Ben surprised me with some champagne and a video that he made of all our videos from pregnancy through when Charlie was born. Best end to a birthday!
On and off throughout the day we would talk about what we were doing excatly one year ago. It brought tears to our eyes and we laughed quite a bit too. Children are the best gifts that God can give us, and the biggest responsibility we have as adults. We are grateful that God has given us such a sweet, precious, little miracle that we can raise, love, and nurture.
Happy Birthday Charlie, we love you little guy!
